SALARY RANGE: $85,644 - $109,305 

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under general supervision, the Operators are responsible for water banking facilities maintenance and operations. Incumbents may, depending upon assignment, maintain pond structure and distribution lines, perform preventative maintenance and mechanical repairs, monitor and adjust water treatment equipment, and assess water quality. Incumbents work on-call shifts, as scheduled.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES INCLUDE: 

Essential duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

• May work closely with outside contractors in directing the construction of recharge ponds and installation and/or removal of temporary piping and appurtenances.
• Operates trucks and tractors with hydraulic attachments.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
•  Operate a computer in the course of business.
• Perform general mathematical calculations.
• This position requires the operation of a truck, tractor, or other moving equipment.
• The incumbents in this position typically work outside with daily exposure to heat, dust, inclement weather and temperature changes.
• The ideal candidate for this position is a self-motivated individual, able to work independently with minimal supervision.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Any combination of education and experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities as described herein.

Experience:

• Must be able to read and write at the level necessary for successful job performance.
• Should have general mechanical experience.
• Experience in water treatment is desirable, but not mandatory.

Licensure/Certification:

• A valid California Driver’s License.
• A State Water Resources Control Board Grade II Water Treatment Operator certificate or the ability to obtain within 24 months of hire.
• A State Water Resources Control Board Grade I Water Distribution certificate or the ability to obtain within 24 months of hire.
