California Drought Monitor - June 2020

Droughts that last for mutliple years are a common occurrence in the state of California. Topography in the region varies greatly, resulting in diverse climate conditions. Dry conditions effect the snow pack in the Sierra Nevada mountain range, impacting the availabiltiy of water supplies from the State Water Project. 

The charts below, updated June 9, 2020, provide an overview of current drought conditions. Monitoring for drought is routine for forecasting the avilability of future water supplies.
