What better way to leave behind the sweltering days in July and August then to welcome a slight breeze in autumn with a company picnic. AVEK employees did that on Wednesday, Sept. 29 during the Agency’s “End of Summer BBQ Potluck,” at the Quartz Hill Water Treatment Plant.
About 35 of AVEK’s 40-some employees attended the lunch festivities – a mix of staffers from the Quartz Hill Administration Offices and the Treatment Plant as well as some who work at the Agency’s offsite facilities, for instance the Rosamond and Eastside treatment plants.
“It’s nice to visit with employees from the other plants, to connect the AVEK family,” said clerical assistant Diana Mills.
Diana brought her famous macaroni salad. Patti Rose brought home-fried potatoes. Pam Clark brought baked beans.
AVEK provided hamburgers, hot dogs, condiments, and beverages. Employees contributed side dishes and desserts. Attendees also played games, like .Horseshoes.
